Cookie Policy

This page explains how Synaps Limited uses cookies and similar local storage on synapslimited.eu. We aim for the absolute minimum: navigation, language preference, and a record of the consent choice you make on the cookie banner.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember things like which language you picked or whether you've already dismissed a banner. 'Local storage' works the same way but uses a different browser API. We treat it the same for the purposes of this policy.

Cookies we set

All cookies and storage entries set directly by synapslimited.eu are strictly necessary under ePrivacy and GDPR rules. They don't require prior consent because they are essential to provide the service you requested.

  • NEXT_LOCALE: language preference (en, fr, nl). Set when you change languages so the site stays in the locale you chose. Lifetime: 1 year.
  • synaps-cookie-consent: a record (in localStorage) of whether you accepted or rejected the cookie banner. Lifetime: until you clear browser storage. No personal data, just accepted or rejected plus a timestamp.

Third-party storage

We do not load advertising trackers, analytics pixels, or social media share buttons by default. Where third-party tools appear on the site, they only do so when you actively use them:

  • Cal.com booking embed on /contact. Cal.com may set its own cookies inside the iframe when you interact with the booking form. See cal.com/privacy.
  • YouTube and Vimeo video embeds: none on the site today. If we embed third-party video in the future, we'll use the 'no-cookie' variants and update this page.

Analytics

At the time of writing we do not run third-party analytics on production. If we later switch on a privacy-friendly analytics tool (e.g. Plausible or Vercel Analytics in cookieless mode), we will list it here and, where required, request your consent first.

Your choices

Because we don't set non-essential cookies, your action on the cookie banner is mostly informational. Your choice is recorded so we don't show the banner again, but no marketing or analytics cookies are gated behind it today.

You can clear stored cookies and local storage at any time through your browser's settings. Most browsers also let you block cookies from this site entirely; the consent banner will reappear on your next visit if you do.

Updates

We update this policy whenever we change which cookies the site sets. The 'last updated' date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
